About The Magic Garden
Our story, our mission, and the community that makes it all possible.
Our Story
The Magic Garden began as a dream to connect children with the natural world — to let them feel soil between their fingers, watch seeds transform into food, and understand where their meals come from.
Located at Roscoe Wilson Elementary School in Lubbock, Texas, our garden has become a living classroom where students learn about science, nutrition, responsibility, and the simple joy of growing something with their own hands.
Our Mission
We believe every child should have the opportunity to experience the wonder of a garden. Through hands-on learning, we aim to:
- Teach children where food comes from and how it grows
- Foster a love of nature and environmental stewardship
- Build community connections between families, teachers, and neighbors
- Provide fresh, healthy produce for our school community
- Create outdoor learning opportunities across the curriculum
The Garden Today
Today, The Magic Garden features five raised vegetable beds and a dedicated Butterfly Garden. Throughout the school year, students plant, tend, and harvest a variety of vegetables, herbs, and flowers suited to our West Texas climate.
Our garden is maintained by a dedicated group of parent volunteers, teachers, and community members. We're always looking for helping hands — whether you can give an hour or become a regular volunteer, there's a place for you in the garden.
